AUSTRIA

Having my main residence in Vienna, I am of course active in Austria. My projects include collaborations with the Volkstheater Vienna (2013 and 2015) as well as with the Vienna Book Fair (2014). The focus was on the Romanian and Moldavian theatre.

With the Austrian cultural magazine Aurora Magazin I look back on a long-term cooperation. It is here that I am creating at the time being my latest project about young Romanian directors, which will be structured in a similar way to the contribution of 2008 on the Romanian theatre scene.

ROMANIA

In order to provide even more information about the Romanian theater scene, you may find here a list of theatres and groups nationwide, as well as here a list of theatre festivals.

GERMANY

Due to the successful cooperation with Stadttheater Ingolstadt several young Romanian artists have been presented during the festival danubia Connection N ° 2 which has taken place from 8th to 10th of April 2016. Please click here for the whole programme.
Due to the pandemic, the project between Theater Ulm and the Moldavian group Foosbook, in which I have been involved since 2018, has been postponed from 2020 to 2022. Keep an eye out for this at Donaufest.

In order to familiarize Western Europe with the theatre scenes from Eastern Europe, I am also active in the publication sector. My first book dedicated to the Romanian theatre was published in 2011. It is currently the only detailed volume on the Romanian scene after the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989. In 2015 my first anthology of Romanian contemporary pieces appeared. The latter enjoyed several presentations: in Berlin, Bremen, Vienna and Zürich.

ITALY

Since 2013 I have maintained intensive contacts with Italy and aspire to cooperations between Romanian and Italian theatre groups.

Following my recommendation, the Romanian monodrama RUN  has been shown on 6th and 7th June 2016 as part of the 21st edition of the Festival delle Colline Torinesi. Additionally, I have given a lecture entitled Consolidation of the Romanian independent theater scene.

As a result of the close Italian relations, I promote the publication of books about the Italian scene. Thus, the play Rumore di Acque (Noise in the Waters) by Marco Martinelli was translated into Romanian and was published in August 2015 in Bucharest. Interviews and further details
about the ricci / forte performing arts ensemble in English can be found here whereas for German please see here.

A dossier on the Romanian and Moldovan theatre has been published in partnership with the Romanian section of the IATC (AICT.Ro) in April in print and online in Hystrio Nr. 2-2017.

I have been working closely with the Teatro delle Albe in Ravenna since 2014. For their large-scale Dante project, I wrote the article Sulle orme di Dante: da Ravenna a Timisoara 2021.

other publications

I have been writing for the Aurora Magazin since 2007. Several articles about the annual festivals in Bucharest, Sibiu, Iasi and Timisoara have been published there. Since 2017 I have a column in Scena.ro (in Romanian). For the magazine with no. 47 (1-2020) I was entrusted with the coordination of the dossier on the Austrian performative scene, which was presented in Bucharest in February 2020.

My reports on the Viennese theatres and festivals all over Austria have been printed beginning with 2009 in Teatrul Azi (in Romanian) and with 2015 in Hystrio (in Italian). Several of my articles on the Berlin Theatertreffen and the Festival delle Colline Torinesi have also appeared in Teatrul Azi.

I also write book reviews
and reports on Viennese exhibitions for the Romanian cultural magazine Observator Cultural.
